The Charge Point Operators Society of India (CPOSI) has appointed Rajeev YSR as its national spokesperson, as the industry body seeks to strengthen engagement with policymakers and stakeholders amid the expansion of India’s electric mobility ecosystem.

Rajeev YSR is a board member of CPOSI and the chief executive officer of ThunderPlus. In his new role, he will represent CPOSI at national and state-level forums and act as an interface with policymakers, regulators, government bodies, media and industry partners. His remit will include presenting the collective position of charge point operators on issues such as EV policy, investment frameworks, standards and interoperability, grid integration, and the sustainability of charging business models.

Focus on charging reliability and policy dialogue

Abhinav Sinha, director at CPOSI, said a charger uptime task force is being constituted to address reliability, performance and operational consistency challenges in India’s EV charging ecosystem.

“Rajeev YSR has been nominated to speak about the challenges and recommendations of this task force in view of his decade-long engagement across logistics operations, electric mobility entrepreneurship, and policy advisory roles,” Sinha said.

He added that YSR’s experience, including advising the Government of Andhra Pradesh and scaling EV charging networks, informed the board’s decision to appoint him as spokesperson.

Industry challenges remain

The EV charging sector has seen an increase in charger deployment, but continues to face issues related to standards, regulatory clarity, power infrastructure readiness and consumer confidence. CPOSI said that it has been working with operators and authorities to encourage coordination and structured dialogue on these matters.

Rajeev YSR said, “Charge Point Operators are central to India’s EV transition. Beyond deploying chargers, the sector today must address challenges around standards, policy alignment, grid readiness, and consumer trust”.

He added, “Through CPOSI, we aim to enable constructive dialogue with policymakers, encourage cooperation over fragmentation, and support the long-term viability of EV charging infrastructure in India”.
