Eco Recycling Limited has announced a strategic shift toward critical minerals recycling, outlining scalable and commercially viable plans for recovery operations from electronic waste and secondary resources, the company disclosed in a business update to stock exchanges on Thursday.
The company, which has operated metal recovery and recycling facilities since 2005, stated that critical metals and minerals recovery has progressively become a strategic focus area. The plans are designed to integrate with India’s formal recycling ecosystem and support national objectives including import substitution, circular economy development, and long-term resource security.
Eco Recycling acknowledged support from the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, for capital and operational expenditure toward establishing critical mineral recovery facilities in India. This support enables the company to deploy advanced recycling processes and accelerate capacity creation in high-value material recovery.
The company cited increasing global demand for critical minerals and rare earth elements driven by energy transition targets and industrial electrification. Supply concentration and geopolitical risks have highlighted vulnerabilities in global sourcing, making recycling and secondary recovery cost-efficient and lower-carbon alternatives to primary mining and refining.
India ranks among the world’s largest generators of electronic waste, with volumes projected to grow significantly by the end of this decade. However, a substantial portion of this waste remains outside formal recycling channels, resulting in suboptimal recovery of embedded critical minerals. Eco Recycling views this gap as a structural opportunity for organized recyclers with technology-driven capabilities and compliant operations.
The company outlined three priority areas: strengthening critical-minerals recovery capabilities, improving recovery efficiency and yield through technology upgrades, and aligning capital allocation with India’s circular-economy and mineral-security priorities.
