Simple Energy Launches 400 km Range Electric Scooter Starting at Rs 1.4 Lakh

Simple Energy has introduced its Gen 2 scooter lineup, headlined by the Simple Ultra, which the company claims is India’s first electric scooter offering a 400 km IDC-certified range. The launch expands the manufacturer’s product portfolio to four distinct models targeting different rider segments.

The Simple Ultra features a 6.5 kWh battery, the largest fitted on an electric scooter in India according to the company. It achieves a top speed of 115 kmph and accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in 2.77 seconds. Simple Energy positions the Ultra as its second-fastest model after the Simple OneS.

The Gen 2 lineup includes updated versions of existing models. The Simple One Gen 2 is available in two battery configurations: a 4.5 kWh variant with 236 km range priced at Rs 1,69,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), and a 5 kWh variant offering 265 km range at Rs 1,77,999. The Simple OneS Gen 2 delivers 190 km range and is priced at Rs 1,49,999. A limited-time introductory offer starts at Rs 1,39,999.

“Indian commuters are not one-size-fits-all, and a growing segment clearly demands extreme range and performance without compromise,” said Suhas Rajkumar, founder and CEO of Simple Energy. “Simple Ultra is built precisely for that customer.”

The Gen 2 models feature several upgrades from previous versions. Weight has been reduced by 8 kg to a kerb weight of 129 kg for Simple One variants, while peak motor power increases to 8.8 kW. New additions include a 1-liter glove box, dedicated charging port, traction control, four-level regenerative braking, and cruise control. Underseat storage has expanded to 35 liters, and seat height has been lowered to 780 mm.

The Simple One Gen 2 comes with a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard, while the Simple OneS Gen 2 features a non-touch display. Both models include 5G e-SIM connectivity, Bluetooth, over-the-air updates, and navigation features. The scooters carry IP65-rated protection for varied weather conditions.

All models are backed by an 8-year motor warranty, along with 3-year/30,000 km vehicle warranty and 3-year/20,000 km charger warranty. The scooters support home charging through a portable 750W charger.

Simple Energy currently operates over 61 showrooms across Bengaluru, Goa, Pune, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Jaipur, Mangalore, and other cities. The scooters are also available through Amazon and Flipkart. The company plans to expand to approximately 150 dealerships and 200 service centers by March 2026.

Founded in 2019, Simple Energy is preparing for an initial public offering in Q2-Q3 FY27, targeting approximately $350 million. The company aims to achieve EBITDA positivity before the end of FY26. To date, it has raised $51 million from investors including family offices of Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani, Balamurugan Arumugam, and others.

The Simple One (4.5 kWh and 5 kWh variants) and Simple OneS Gen 2 are available for immediate purchase, while availability details for the Simple Ultra were not disclosed in the announcement.
