The Telangana transport department has reported revenue collection of ₹5,142 crore during the first nine months of the 2025–26 financial year. In a statement, the department said the revenue was generated from multiple streams, including life tax collections of ₹3,611 crore, quarterly taxes amounting to ₹730 crore, green tax of ₹57 crore, various fees totalling 408 crore, enforcement and inspection-related collections of ₹181 crore, and service charges contributing ₹153 crore.
For the period from April to Dec 2025, the revenue target was fixed at ₹6,165 crore. With collections touching ₹5,142 crore, the department has achieved 83 per cent of the projected target for the nine-month period, the statement said.

Meanwhile, officials have also issued a stern warning to private bus operators in view of the increased passenger rush during the Sankranti season. The department cautioned that strict action would be taken against private buses found charging fares beyond the permitted limits, illegally transporting goods, or operating stage carriage services in violation of their permit conditions.

The department has instructed enforcement officials to conduct special inspections of private buses across the state. Vehicles found violating norms will be seized, and necessary legal action will be initiated against the operators and managements concerned, the department said.
