Indofast Energy has partnered with Nexus Select Malls to install battery swapping stations inside shopping malls. The first stations have been inaugurated at Nexus Shantiniketan and Nexus Whitefield in Bengaluru.
The companies said the rollout will be expanded to other cities, including Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad and Pune. The initiative marks the first deployment of battery swapping infrastructure across Nexus Select Malls.
Expansion plans
According to the companies, the battery swapping stations are intended to support electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers used by commuters, delivery partners and fleet operators. Indofast Energy said its automated system allows depleted batteries to be replaced within minutes and supports multiple vehicle types on a common battery platform.
Anant Badjatya, CEO of Indofast Energy, said integrating battery swapping infrastructure into retail locations can support wider electric vehicle adoption by improving access and convenience.
Nilesh Singh, Senior VP for ESG and business excellence at Nexus Select Malls, said the introduction of battery swapping stations is part of efforts to incorporate sustainability initiatives into mall operations and everyday consumer spaces.
Indofast Energy said the collaboration aligns with its Battery-as-a-Service model and its plans to deploy 10,000 battery swapping stations across more than 40 Indian cities over the next three years.
