Cologne. SP-X/Cologne. The second generation of the Audi Q3 (F3) was launched since the beginning of 2019 and was replaced by the third generation at the end of 2025. The VW Tiguan’s corporate brother is one of the Ingolstadt-based company’s highest-volume models. The range on offer on the used car market looks correspondingly good. The TÜV knows what interested parties should pay attention to when it comes to previously owned vehicles.

Quality

The compact Audi has presented itself very well in the two general inspections (HU) evaluated by TÜV so far. 93.8 percent of the two to three year olds and 89.3 percent of the four to five year old models passed the HU without any defects. The average of the vehicles tested is 89.4 and 84.7 percent, respectively.

The Q3 completed the chassis test (axle suspension, axle springs/damping, steering) – often a problem with heavy vehicles such as SUVs – without any problems, ditto the light and environmental test. When checking the brake system, however, the brake discs wear out faster than average.

Body and interior

The Audi Q3 (F3) was offered in two body variants: as a classic SUV and, from the end of 2019, as a coupé derivative called Sportback. At around 4.50 meters long, the compact model is in the upper range of the segment. The two versions differ visually: the coupe looks sportier, the SUV looks stockier.

Inside there is a rear seat that can be moved lengthwise by 15 centimeters; in the coupe the rear seat can only be adjusted by 13 centimeters. There are also differences in the trunk volume: in the Sportback it is 530 to 1,400 liters, the maximum value is 125 liters less than its brother.

The space at the front is good in both variants; in the Sportback, the users in the rear should not be too long. The interior is dignified. The workmanship is at a high level; Depending on the willingness of the original buyer to invest in equipment and extras, there are more visual embellishments, comfort and a more extensive infotainment system.

Engines and drive

The basic gasoline engine was the 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo with 110 kW/150 HP (35 TFSI), which has had mild hybrid support since the end of 2020. The 35 TFSI was only available with front-wheel drive. The two-liter turbo 40 TFSI (140 kW/190 hp) and 45 TFSI (169 kW/230 hp) offer all-wheel drive.
