Industry–academia linkages and collaborative creativity took centre stage at SIAM’s 20th Styling & Design Conclave, as automakers and designers underscored the growing role of design as a key differentiator in India’s evolving mobility ecosystem.

Held alongside the 18th Automotive Design Challenge, the event brought together industry leaders, design professionals and academic institutions to discuss changing consumer expectations, sustainability, and the future direction of vehicle design in the country.

A SIAM White Paper on ‘Evolution of Automotive Design in India’ was also launched during the conclave. The ADC provided a platform for 53 design students to showcase innovative concepts aligned with future mobility trends.

“Meaningful mobility solutions emerge from sustainability, desirability, and affordability, addressing local needs while aligning with environmental priorities,” said Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM.

The conclave featured focus on designing trends as industry leaders discussed sustainability, material innovation, and design-led differentiation. Along with that, experts explored creative thinking, emerging trends, and innovation shaping future vehicles. A panel highlighted embedding design thinking into development and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
