Mahindra Group on Friday announced plans to set up its largest integrated manufacturing facility for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur, Maharashtra, marking a major expansion of its production capabilities and long-term growth strategy.

The proposed facility will be developed over 1,500 acres in Vidarbha, supported by a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. Once fully operational, the plant will have an annual production capacity of more than five lakh vehicles and one lakh tractors, making it Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing footprint in India.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO, Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said that the facility would combine scale, flexibility and advanced technology to support Mahindra’s next phase of growth and its “Make in India for the World” vision.

Strategic location and supplier ecosystem

Mahindra said that the Vidarbha region offers strong logistical advantages, including connectivity through the Samruddhi Expressway, robust rail infrastructure and access to key domestic and export markets. The supplier park at Sambhajinagar will strengthen the manufacturing value chain by improving localisation, logistics efficiency and collaboration with partners. It will supply components to the Nagpur facility as well as Mahindra’s existing plants in Chakan and Nashik.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the investment would boost employment, accelerate regional development in Vidarbha and reinforce the state’s position as a leading manufacturing hub.

The new automotive facility will support Mahindra Auto’s next-generation platforms and will be capable of manufacturing vehicles across multiple powertrains — internal combustion engines, electric vehicles and future technologies — for domestic and global markets. The plant will feature advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems.

The company also plans to acquire land in the Igatpuri-Nashik region to expand product and engine capacities and support the growth of its advanced technology business. Overall, the group will invest ₹15,000 crore over the next decade and acquire more than 2,000 acres across three locations in Maharashtra.
