Porsche reduces repair time thanks to augmented reality

Porsche Cars North America will launch “Tech Live Look” to its 189 dealers in the United States this week. It is an augmented reality system that connects the technicians of dealers with experts in the headquarters of the brand through smart glasses for a live interaction that can shorten the service resolution times by up to 40%. The system will also apply to Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and VW dealers.

“Tech Live Look is the kind of digital innovation that Porsche values because it increases the quality of the customer experience,” says Klaus Zellmer, president and CEO of Porsche Nort America. “By solving problems faster, our dealer partners can make their customers have their car ready before. And our overall quality of service increases as we share our knowledge more efficiently between our experts and the technicians of the dealership. “

Through high-definition live video of the glasses, the support team sees exactly what the technician is looking at. The expert in turn can project technical bulletins step by step and schematic drawings on the screen inside the technician’s glasses, as well as take screenshots and enlarge images for better visibility.

After pilot tests carried out in 2017, the system will be launched at three Porsche dealerships this week. Porsche wants to reach 75 dealers at the end of the year and the rest in 2019.
