Germany – Mercedes-Benz has started production of its latest CLS model at the Sindelfingen plant. The CLS will share the same assembly line as the E-Class sedan and T-models, with the AMG CLS 53 4MATIC+ also produced in the same hall. Producing 200 cars per day the workforce utilises digital production technologies that activate the required tools depending on the respective order specifications of vehicles moving along the assembly line.

Sindelfingen is the centre of competence for upper-range and luxury-class vehicles, and the lead-plant for the production of the S- and E-Class model series. This will also be the location for the prospective production of electric vehicles of the new EQ product and technology brand.

“The Sindelfingen team has once again demonstrated its motivation and many years of experience in the successful start-up of the new CLS. The start-up of the third generation of the vehicle in series production shows the flexibility that characterises our production at the Sindelfingen plant,” said plant manager Michael Bauer.
