Taxify recently celebrated its 1st birthday in South Africa after launching back in 2016! Over this short period, Taxify has had a great impact on the way they have been moving riders across the country.
What happened within the first year:
Taxify Expanded to 3 of South Africa’s biggest cities within 6 months of launch.
Over 10 000 registered drivers.
Over 5 million completed rides.
Out of all rated rides, 86% received a 5-star rating and 8% received a 4-star rating.
The most expensive trip cost R2350, was 112 km long and took over 5 hours.
The top 3 cars on the SA Taxify platform are: 1) Toyota Corolla 2) Toyota Etios 3) Nissan Almera.
Average arrival times changing in all 3 cities since launch:
1) Johannesburg 9.6 minutes in May 2016 to 3.7 minutes in May 2017.
2) Cape Town 6.8 minutes in May 2016 to 3.8 minutes in May 2017.
3) Durban 7 minutes in December 2016 to 4 minutes in May 2017.
The most popular destination in SA were Mall of Africa in Johannesburg, Cape Town International Airport in Cape Town and Musgrave Centre in Durban.
On the normal category, some riders have been picked up in cool vehicles such as Jaguar XF’s, Mercedes Benz E-Classes and BMW M3s.
Over 350 items lost by riders. A tray of eggs, R1200 and a microwave among them.
What’s to come:
To expand to 1-2 more cities by the end of the year and introduce new categories tailored for different target markets.
Assisting more of our driver partners in expanding their business by launching affordable and reasonable leasing deals.
Further entrench Taxify into our riders’ eco system by becoming part of popular rewards programs and launching rider discount campaigns.
