The carmaker Opel replaces an unknown number of temporary workers at its Rüsselsheim headquarters by regular employees from the Polish site in Gliwice. The plant there is currently only weakly utilized, so that 250 employees will be temporarily used for six months in Rüsselsheim, said a company spokesman on Tuesday on request. This would reduce the number of temporary workers in Hesse. In addition, one talks with the social partners about a deployment of employees from the Thuringian Eisenach in the parent plant.

Earlier, Rüsselsheim temporary workers had reported outraged by their short-term dismissals. After the takeover by the French PSA group had Opel announced in its November restructuring plan to reduce the number of temporary workers. In order to reduce the available working time, the car manufacturer has also introduced short-time work and terminated contracts with over-tariff hours. Operating terminations were excluded for the permanent workforce. IG Metall and works council have approved the plan.
