SEAT to recruit 115 more employees at the Martorell plant

SEAT is going to hire 115 new employees to boost production at the Martorell factory. These workers currently have an employment agency contract and will be joining SEAT beginning on February 5th with an open-ended contract.

The integration of these 115 new recruits will build on the 150 who joined the company on    8 January to strengthen the workforce on the production lines, especially for the Ibiza and Arona, which are both built on the Volkswagen Group’s new MQB A0 platform debuted by SEAT in 2017. In order to respond to production growth, SEAT is also going to schedule additional weekend shifts this year. To begin with, work will be carried out on Line 2 (SEAT Leon) on Saturday 27 January and on 10 and 17 February.

SEAT Vice-President for Human Resources Xavier Ros highlighted that “with the incorporation of 115 employees with an open-ended contract we are maintaining our commitment to the majority unions to add all the necessary professionals to the SEAT workforce to achieve our scheduled production volumes. This year we have already generated 265 new permanent jobs and do not rule out hiring more workers if required by production needs”.

These procurements extend SEAT’s staffing increases in recent years. In 2017, the SEAT Group workforce grew by a total of 185 employees. In addition, last year SEAT also hired 75 trainees who concluded their studies at the Apprentice School. Since 2015, the company has increased its number of professionals by 470 people, and at the end of 2017, the SEAT Group workforce totalled 14,672 direct employees.
