It was in 1840 that Peugeot made the first coffee grinder. Today in Franche-Comté, it is essentially salt and pepper mills that are manufactured near Besançon, in Quingey. Local wood mills, a beech wood renowned for its design and the fineness of the grain they produce. The Quingey factory produces 10,000 mills a day. 70% of the turnover (close to 30 million euros) is made for export in more than 80 countries.
PSP Peugeot (Poivrières Salières Production) specializes in tableware (pepper mills, salt mills, spice mills and accessories dedicated to wine tasting). The site also manufactures kitchen knives. A new range will be launched.
