All parcel service providers are dealing with electric vehicles in order to be able to drive into inner cities in the future, even if internal combustion engines are no longer allowed to be used or their operation becomes uneconomical, for example through tolls or high fuel costs.

UPS is engaged in a variety of individual projects in this regard and ordered a total of 1,000 vans from the US manufacturer Workhorse, In London too a small UPS fleet of purely electric powered vans on the way and in New York, 1,500 UPS trucks are being electrified. In addition, UPS ordered 125 semi-trailers at Tesla,
Ordered by Workhorse UPS already 50 vehicles and now 950 are added, so that the fleet of delivery vans grows to 1,000.
The Ohio based truck manufacturer Workhorse is also building one electric pickup called W-15. Workhorse announced that the new N-gen electric truck will reach a range of 160km, which should be sufficient for most delivery routes in the city. Optionally, a range extender can be ordered. This combustion engine increases the range by a further 120 km and charges the battery.
By the end of 2018, Workhorse plans to launch a total of 2,000 all-electric vans on the road. A large number of them are likely to carry the UPS logo. However, the commitment is only a drop in the ocean: UPS currently has about 35,000 trucks with diesel or gasoline engines in use.
