BMW wants with his cooperation group to 2021 bring out the highly autonomous driving until 2021 and although the group has already closed, one has found another partner with TTTech. Together, it’s about developing applications that are all about the safety and comfort of Level 3 and Level 4 vehicles.

The development of the platform for the technology should be modular and open to others. TTTech brings its expertise in software security. Which probably also with the new ones vulnerabilities has to do with BMW. So you want to achieve the goal by 2021, so the plan. From then on, you want to be able to prepare for level 5 – ie actually autonomous driving.

But the claim to reach Level 4 sounds unconvincing in the message. Especially after you already Level 5 had to exclude until 2021. By 2021 then the level 3 (partial autonomy) have reached in any case. Only this year is still Hyundai joined the BMW Cooperation Group and even has one with Intel Mobileye cooperation agreement closed. The important one lidar should come from Magna and Innoviz and in China the manufacturer as first foreign company the opportunity to get tested.

Meanwhile plans Waymo (Google) Already this or next year to bring a Level 4 car service on the road and in the Europe, General Motors will next year produce a high-autonomous car in series and in China you also go already this or next year for commercialization over.
