Electrify America selects Black & Veatch as charging station developer

Electrify America, which was formed as part of VW’s penance for the Dirty Diesel Debacle, has a pot of $2 billion to invest over 10 years in EVSE. The company plans to deploy more than 2,000 chargers across 484 sites in 17 metropolitan areas and on highways in 39 states in the first of four planned cycles of investment.

Electrify America has chosen Black & Veatch to design and construct hundreds of sites for EA’s cooled-cable 150-350 kW DC Fast Chargers. Black & Veatch is currently supporting site development services across the US and performing engineering, permitting and construction of charging station sites in several regions.

“Our approach to zero-emissions vehicle infrastructure means we can work on multiple sites concurrently and efficiently, providing greater speed to market,” said Dean Siegrist, AVP of Black & Veatch’s Transformative Technologies business.

Black & Veatch has already developed hundreds of charging station sites across the US. The company says it was selected for this project because of its 100 years of engineering expertise, working relationships with many of the nation’s utility companies, and thorough understanding of electric utility and local jurisdiction compliance requirements.
