New WLTP certification cycle drives up CO2 emissions

It is in a race against the clock that car manufacturers have started since September 2017: to submit their new models to a new homologation cycle, the WLTP – for “Global harmonized test procedure for light vehicles” in French.

Considered more realistic, this new protocol aims to replace the NEDC – for “New European Driving Cycle”. Used up to now, this cycle of measurements has been the subject of sharp criticism because of its lack of representativeness of the actual driving conditions … and therefore the actual consumption and emissions of vehicles.
