European sales of diesel cars fall by 16.4%, compared to the 17% increase in gasoline models

Enrollment of diesel cars in the whole of Europe closed the first half of the year with a decline of 16.4%, a behavior very different from that experienced by the deliveries of gasoline models, which registered a progression of 16.9%, according to data from the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA).

In the whole of Europe, the registrations of diesel cars reached a volume of 3.17 million units in the first six months of the year, which represents a fall of 16.4%, while the sales of gasoline cars rose 16.9%, up to 4.82 million units.

In the second quarter of 2018 a total of 1.57 million diesel units were sold in Europe, which translates into a decrease of 15.7%, while the sales of gasoline-powered cars increased by 19.5 %, with 2.47 million units.

ALTERNATIVE VEHICLES.

On the other hand, the European market of electric vehicles with battery, which includes models of hydrogen fuel cell, stood at 88,266 units in the first half, 38.7% more, and 43,756 units in the second quarter of 2018 , 41.6% more.

Deliveries of plug-in hybrid vehicles improved by 45.9% between January and June, with 94,999 units, and 44.3% between April and June, to 50,249 units, while sales of hybrids stood at 305,209 units in the first half of the year, 34.2% more, and 159,775 units in the second quarter, 46.2% more.

In addition, the market for vehicles powered by alternative energies (CNG, LPG or ethanol) improved by 23.6% in the semiannual calculation, with 133,019 units, and 35.4% in the quarterly, with 71,012 units.

In total, the European market for alternative vehicles ended the first half of 2018 with a volume of 621,513 units, representing an increase of 34%, while between April and June the figure was 324,792 units, 42.8% more .
