Audi’s global sales stood at 153,900 vehicles in August, which translates into a 10.9% increase compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data published by the company.
The interim CEO of the firm, Bram Schot, said that this increase underlines the “attractiveness” of the brand, which continues “focused” on the adoption of the new cycle of homologation of consumption and WLTP emissions.
“We are entering a new era for our company with our first all-electric car, the e-tron,” he added.
By regions, the brand of the four rings delivered 60,250 vehicles in Europe last month, 21.5% more than in August 2017. Within the ‘Old Continent’, Audi only experienced increases in most markets, with the exception of of Italy, where it fell by 16.9%. In Spain, it registered 5,305 units, a 66.1% more.
For its part, the German manufacturer delivered 20,907 units in the United States (US) in August, representing an increase of 5.5%, and 57,453 units in China (including Hong Kong), up 6%. Audi sales also increased in Mexico, with 1,403 units, up 30.1%, while they fell by 17.8% in Brazil, to 702 units.
So far this year, Audi delivered 1.26 million vehicles worldwide, 5.5% more compared to the first eight months of the previous year. In Europe it sold 579,000 units, 0.2% more; 148,070 units in the US, 4.6% more; 9,671 units in Mexico, 5.8% more; 5,765 units in Brazil, 7% less, and 417,234 units in China, 15.8% more.
