Even the “Prius” has to go to the workshop – again

Japan’s largest carmaker Toyota has due to a software problem worldwide recall about 2.4 million hybrid cars, including his successful model Prius. As the company announced on Friday, a malfunction of the software in the control system could lead to an accident.

In Germany 32,000 cars are affected, across Europe there are a total of 290,000. The majority is attributable to Japan, where the software has to be corrected in 1.25 million vehicles.

It is already the second time within a few weeks that the industry leader has to bring back its flagship hybrid model Prius to the workshops. At the beginning of September, around one million cars were recalled because of a fire risk. Prius was the world’s first mass produced hybrid car – and became a success.
