MADRID, 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The average price of used cars increased by 6.5% in September compared to the same month of the previous year and stood at 15,554 euros, according to data from the Institute of Automotive Studies (IEA) for Coches.net.

Last month, most autonomous communities saw the average price of second-hand vehicles rise compared to the previous year, with the exception of Castilla-La Mancha, the Balearic Islands and Navarra, where they fell by 0.3%, 0.7% and 2.1%, respectively. The highest increases occurred in Andalusia (+ 17.4%), La Rioja (+ 16%) and Castilla y León (+ 14.6%).

The number of pre-owned vehicles offered on Coches.net with less than 20,000 kilometers represented 21.7% of its total offer in September. However, the majority of vehicles for sale corresponded to vehicles with more than 80,000 kilometers (54.2% of the total), followed by vehicles with more than 100,000 kilometers (45.2%).

Taking into account the offer by type of fuel, the web portal highlighted that diesel vehicles were in September ahead of gasoline (28%) and electric and hybrid (1.4%) with 70.6% of the total of the offer, but last month was the first of the last two years whose percentage fell from 71%.

SALES

In the ninth month of the year, a total of 206,363 second-hand cars were sold, which translates into an increase of 6.6% compared to September 2017.

Sales of second-hand vehicles were again led in August by diesel models, with 131,220 units and 63.6% of total operations. Electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for 1% of total sales, while gasoline accounted for 35.4%.

However, Coches.net stresses that it begins to see a downward trend in terms of the purchase preference of this type of engine.

The ‘best-sellers’ of last month were the same as the previous month: the Renault Mégane, the Seat Ibiza, the Volkswagen Golf, the Ford Focus and the Seat Leon.

“With the start-up of the new WLTP regulations, an increase in the sale of vehicles of less than one year was expected, mainly due to the great increase in auto-registrations produced in the previous months, which have come to represent almost 15% of sales, “said the head of Institutional Marketing of the web portal, Marcel Blanes.
