Firefly, a San Francisco-based digital advertising platform for rideshare drivers, raised $21.5m in seed funding.
The round was led by NFX, with participation from Pelion Venture Partners, Decent Capital, Jeffrey Housenbold, Cross Culture Ventures, Muse Capital, StartX and others.
Founded in 2017 by CEO Kaan Gunay, Firefly allows rideshare drivers to make money through digital ad billboards put on top of their (Uber and Lyft) cars.
The company is soing it by building mobility based smart screens – smart cities advertising and data platform that allows advertisers to run targeted, geofenced campaigns via the ride share and gig economy for distribution and scale. Its location-based, situationally-aware software and 1st party data enables granular, audience based targeting of any away from home medium on any screen type.
Firefly has reportedly conducted over 50 ad campaigns, during a beta testing period in San Francisco and Los Angeles, with hundreds of cars on the road.
