The price of the second-hand vehicle rises by 4.4% in November and stands at 15,235 euros

The average price of used vehicles in Spain rose by 4.4% in November compared to the same month of the previous year, standing at 15,235 euros, according to data from Coches.net.

In the eleventh month of the year a total of 243,009 second-hand cars were sold in the Spanish market, 4.6% more than in the same month of the previous year, according to data provided by the Institute of Automotive Studies (IEA).

42% of the searches carried out on the portal Coches.net during the month of November corresponded to diesel models, while searches for gasoline vehicles were 23%. The demand for electric and hybrid vehicles has accounted for 2% of the total.

In the penultimate month of the year, sales have once again been led by diesel models. Specifically, 150,479 units have been commercialized, 61.9% of the total. However, it is perceived a downward trend since it is the first month of the year in which the percentage of the total drops by 63%, according to Coches.net.

Electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for 1.1% of total sales, a figure that is maintained throughout 2018, while gasoline accounted for 37% of sales.

In November, the supply of used vehicles with less than one year has skyrocketed to represent 14% of the total supply. This figure, together with vehicles less than five years old, makes the young vehicle segment account for 53.9% of the offer. Cars with more than six years represent 46.1%.

The price of the second-hand vehicle has experienced an increase in most of the autonomous communities compared to the same month of the previous year, especially in Cantabria (17.9%), Murcia (11.8%) and the Balearic Islands (11.5%). %). However, it fell in Castilla-La Mancha (-0.4%), Galicia (-0.7%), and Navarre, (-4.9%).

By brands, the most sold used models of the month were the Renault Mégane, the Seat Ibiza, the Volkswagen Golf, the Ford Focus and the Seat León, the same cars as the previous month.

“Seeing the results of sales of second-hand vehicles in November, we can foresee that the forecasts are met and that sales this year increase by more than 8%,” said the head of Institutional Marketing at Coches.net, Marcel Blanes.
