Deutsche Post: StreetScooter secures major order from carsharing companies

DusseldorfThe Deutsche Post subsidiary StreetScooter Has another major customer found for their electric transporters, The carsharing provider UZE Mobility will buy 500 StreetScooter Work and Work L models, StreetScooter announced on Wednesday.

Initially, the vans were to be offered to private customers in some major German cities, which they can then rent via app for relocations or purchases of bulky goods such as furniture. Meanwhile, UZE Mobility is focusing on being able to offer vehicles free of charge to consumers in the future – among other things, they should be financed through advertising.

The vehicles are to collect data, they are also equipped with advertising space, it said. “From now on you can only advertise where your customers are”, is one of the concepts of UZE Mobility. Promotional messages, for example for new shops, are to be presented in a targeted manner near the new openings on color displays on StreetScooters.

The revenue of the rental prices of the vehicles “in perspective to zero,” said company boss Alexander Jablovski in prospect. His company will need more StreetScooter – “our business model works all over the world”.

In 2014, Swiss Post secured all shares in StreetScooter. The people of Bonn use the electric vehicle in their own fleet and sell it to customers outside the Group. More than 8,000 electric transporters are already making their way through the country for the post office.
