Alibaba-backed Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) is partnering with LogiNext, a cloud-based logistics optimisation company, to boost its last-mile delivery services.
As part of the exercise, SingPost will introduce artificial intelligence to its next-generation regional logistics platform, LaMP, using LogiNext’s technology in a move that will provide parcel traceability and reliability for customers across Southeast Asia, it said in a release.
LaMP or Last Mile Platform is SingPost’s new proprietary logistics software which seeks to consolidate last-mile delivery services such as courier services, parcel lockers, brick-and-mortar collection points onto a single platform.
SingPost and LogiNext are in the midst of integrating the route planning AI software into LaMP. The exercise is expected to be completed next year.
“Our delivery route planning engine is the leading bench marker in the industry. Couriers have much better-planned routes, so they can handle more parcels. It’s a win-win for everyone, SingPost raises its already high delivery agility and the customer gets a much better experience with it,” said LogiNext CEO Dhruvil Sanghvi.
US and India-headquartered LogiNext, which raised its Series A round of $10 million from Alibaba-backed Indian payments major Paytm, is also looking to raise its next round of funding which is said to be in the region of $10 million in a deal likely to close very soon. Sanghvi confirmed that the company was in fundraising mode but refrained to divulge any further information.
LogiNext’s software analyses and proactively alerts all stakeholders on courier movements. With this capability, customers receive an alert half an hour before their parcel arrives. The company claims that the capability will benefit operations in congested Asian cities such as Bangkok and Jakarta, where customers are provided vague parcel arrival times due to reasons such as traffic jams and extreme weather conditions.
LogiNext has regional offices in Delhi, Dubai, Singapore and Jakarta.
