In 2018, Ford announced that it would launch 16 electric vehicles by 2022. The company wants to start with a crossover, which should have a range of about 480 km.

The F150 pickup should actually receive only a hybrid drive until 2020. That Ford now wants to offer a fully electric variant, is also because other manufacturers want to electrify this vehicle category. Sun announced Rivian a pickup with electric drive, Tesla also wants to build a pick-up.

Also the planned one Bollinger B2 is an all-electric pick-up based on the Bollinger B1 SUV, but is longer and has an open cargo bed. The vehicle has a double cabin, so that can accommodate five passengers.

Ford and Volkswagen also announced they would consider partnering with electric vehicles. For this purpose, a letter of intent was signed. Specifically agreed is the joint development of vans and mid-sized pick-ups from 2022, but still with internal combustion engines.
