Inrix calls for political decisions and wants to help

Inrix Autonomous Driving, Avery Ashs, is calling for regulatory intervention and is promoting his AV Road Rules project.

In a speech, the head of Autonomous Driving spoke to the traffic information service Inrix, Avery Ash, about the lack of public sector decisions. The towns move in the direction of autonomous driving, the basic rules should first be decided. At the speech, he spoke about this development with a focus on the public sector.

There, many authorities would feel behind-the-scenes when dealing with autonomous driving. This would lead to a sense of urgency, so that quick decisions are required. But, so his admonition, without clear indication of direction, lead the feeling to wrong decisions. For example, that would be unnecessary investments or there would be counterproductive regulations. There would also be frustration and confusion in the public and private sectors, which would also affect consumers.

Inrix sees his offer as a way to give the public a means to concretize the direction. There should be answers to the questions of cities that are not sure how to prepare for the development of autonomous driving. How do you interact with the cars when they are on the road?

Inrix spokesman Ash called for new ways of thinking and refrained from saying that autonomous driving would be a race without a finish line. The ideas of a race or a riddle are not correct. Autonomous driving, like other technologies, is a tool to tackle today’s challenges.

The company Inrix collects and processes traffic data. So you already have a service on offer, which is aimed equally at travelers and authorities: Inrix AV Road Rules. These are rules for autonomous vehicle traffic. An appropriate pilot project was initially developed for Boston and has since been implemented in other cities. These include the cities of Austin in Texas, Portland in Maine, Cambridge in Massachusetts, Las Vegas in Nevada, and cities in the UK.

In addition, we have found some cooperation partners in this regard: Jaguar Land Rover, May Mobility, nuTonomy and Renovo.
