Mando Corp successfully tested Level 4 vehicle

The South Korean company Mando Corp. announced a successful level 4 test.

The supplier Mando, a subsidiary of the Halla Group, declared the test with an autonomous vehicle at level 4 to be successful.

With level 4 – which I call high autonomy – you have vehicles that can largely drive by themselves. Such vehicles are not yet available to buy. Only Level 3 vehicles are on the market so far and even here only a few. So had Audi announced for the last year with the Audi A8 such a vehicle, but not released,

Mando’s test drive was conducted by the company chairman. The test vehicle, dubbed “hockey”, drove through the public streets at a speed of 40 km / h Pangyo, In this way you could cover a distance of 2.7 kilometers autonomously.

Mando not only has a test approval in South Koreabut also in California, The vehicle Hockey has sensors and software from Mando. It mastered a challenging track in Pangyo. Because there will be parked wild and the glasshouses sometimes blind the sensors.

The vehicle is also well connected and communicates via the C-V2X Technology. The car also “talks” with intersections and other vehicles.

By 2021, so the statement of the company boss, you will be the Artificial intelligence get ready in the car. For the operation of the vehicle, however, it needs a corresponding transport infrastructure. Currently, the company is engaged in the commercialization of the Level 3 vehicles, which is scheduled for 2021.
