Koolicar leaves for the West Indies

The car rental service between individuals will announce this February 12, 2018 the launch of its offer to Guadeloupe and Martinique. An unprecedented expansion in the sector.

What better than a presentation of KoolicarGo under the snow to slip this information: Koolicar will establish in the French West Indies. More specifically, the rental service between individuals will start its activities in Guadeloupe and Martinique in a few days, we learned from the technical direction.

In fact, Koolicar is already present as an experiment on the butterfly island. A dozen cars have been equipped. “Our metropolitan customers did not understand why they could not have the service once when traveling on a French territory,” says one at the Paris headquarters of the start-up. Koolicar will therefore be the first offer to settle on the two Caribbean islands, against the other players, which generally target neighboring countries.

Contribution from local dealers

In Guadeloupe and Martinique, the subsidiary of PSA will rely on the concessions of the group, failing to implement the partnership with Feu Vert, absent from these departments. A network of independent installers will also be involved in mounting communicating boxes on vehicles (twenty to sixty minutes of intervention time). With teams in Montreal, Canada, Koolicar will be able to deliver support from the same time zone. One more asset.

The island of Reunion could follow in a second time. But nothing presses. Koolicar wants to focus on increasing the park in France. To date, the personal rental service has 350,000 users (owners and renters combined) for a total of 50,000 vehicles available. “We want to simplify the customer journey for both, because it increases the rate of use,” says advance Koolicar. For example, in case of setting on “automatic acceptance”, the rental rate of a vehicle is multiplied by three.
