Aston Martin Says 003 Hypercar Will Compete With LaFerrari And Senna – Carscoops

Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer has revealed that the upcoming 003 hypercar will have roughly the same amount as power as the LaFerrari.

The automaker dropped a somewhat-revealing teaser image of the ‘Son of Valkyrie’ hypercar a few days ago, but didn’t offer up many details.

Fortunately, Palmer did reveal some titbits to Auto Express. In an interview with the publication, Palmer confirmed the 003 will slot between the Valkyrie and Aston’s forthcoming rival to the McLaren 720S.

“It falls into the category of a ‘special’. It’s the connector, it’s the dot between the Valkyrie and the Ferrari 488 competitor. Let’s put it as a LaFerrari competitor so it’s in that kind of realm, like the McLaren Senna and Porsche 918. As for power, it would more than compete with those,” Palmer said.

The vehicle may be named the Valhalla, and Aston Martin says that it will utilize a V6 turbo hybrid powertrain, potentially with some Formula 1 technology. Such a powertrain won’t be quite as special as the naturally-aspirated V12 of the Valkyrie, but if it produces almost 1000 hp, we don’t expect the millionaires and billionaires of the world who this supercar is aimed at to be overly upset.

Much like the Valkyrie, Aston Martin will focus on ensuring the Valhalla will be as light as possible. It will, therefore, utilize a carbon fiber tub and have most of its bodywork made from the same material.

Production of the vehicle will be capped at just 500 units globally and, unlike the Valkyrie, the 003 will be sold in both left- and right-hand drive configurations. Aston Martin expects the new supercar to hit the market in late 2021.
