Ford announced earlier this year its plan to shut down its plant in the Sao Paulo.
SAO PAULO: The government of Sao Paulo says that the state’s governor has committed himself to helping Ford Motor Co. find a buyer for its truck and small car plant.
The Brazilian plant is expected to close down later this year as part of the automaker‘s global reorganization plan.
The state government office said on its website that Sao Paulo Gov. Joao Doria attended a meeting with company executives.
“The preservation of 1,600 assembly line jobs” was the objective, the office quoted Doria as saying.
Ford announced earlier this year its plan to shut down its plant in the Sao Paulo industrial suburb of Sao Bernardo do Campo.
F-4000 and F-350 trucks and the Fiesta small car are made at the facility.
