On the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in Barcelona HERE announced its location-based services also in China offer. With the opening to China, they want to conquer the local market and make their own services available worldwide. Globalization, says HERE, also helps reduce development time and costs.

The service runs through a joint venture founded with NavInfo Co. Originally wanted NavInfo Co. at HERE, but met with resistance. At the joint venture, NavInfo brings along the digital maps and HERE enriches them with its data.

The service in China has been unlocked this week and includes the core features. These include the map display (also in 3D), the route calculation for various means of transport including foot traffic and public transport, the consideration of current traffic information, navigation on- and offline, the provision of information for public transport, traffic information, geocoding, POI (Point of Interest) – Data and position determination.
