Elon Musk has announced to investors that in four years 100,000 Tesla– Electric tractors could be sold per year.
Tesla boss Elon Musk expects the production of up to 100,000 electric trucks per year, said Musk on one investor conference With. The Tesla Semi is scheduled to go into production in 2019. Asked about the planned production capacity, Musk said that in four years, 100,000 units a year would be a reasonable estimate.
This would make Tesla one of the leading truck manufacturers in the world and bring tremendous revenue. A semi-trailer should cost at least $ 150,000. It is not yet clear where these electric trucks will be made.
The number of pre-orders is manageable
So far, various companies have reported to have made reservations. Officially, around 500 reservations are known. The actual number is likely to be slightly higher, since it is unlikely that all interested parties have made their reservation public. The largest orders include 100 pieces, which wants to have Pepsi. 125 pieces has reserved UPS.
The vehicle is currently being tested. Tesla offers its electric semi-trailer Tesla Semi in three versions: The model with the smaller battery will cost 150,000 US dollars, with the larger 180,000 US dollars. A luxury version called Founders Series is available for $ 200,000. The truck with the smaller battery should have a range of 400 km, with the larger battery a range of 800 km.
