The two cooperation partners Volkswagen China and FAW-Volkswagen found a joint venture for digitization.
The new joint venture of FAW and Volkswagen Mobile Online Services will be Intelligent or MOSI for short. In this way, networking in China should be strengthened.
The range of digital services is geared towards models of cooperation that will roll off the production line this year. From next year, one relies on the modular electrical construction kit (MEB), which one also with ford or share e.GO. In doing so, Volkswagen is increasingly engaged in China and expanding its ecosystem around the vehicle. One even speaks of a “new digital era”.
MOSI will be based in Chengdu and will start work before the summer of this year. On site, experts from both countries will be involved in the digitization strategy. In addition, MOSI is also looking at new business models for networking. The focus should be on the personalization of services.
The networking offers are important for manufacturers, as it can compensate for the low margins on car sales. For the networking services via cloud one works with Volkswagen above all with Microsoft together.
