When it came to his Chinese electric car start-up Byton, co-founder Carsten Breitfeld always spoke like a newly-baked father, who finally holds the long-awaited wish child in his arms. “It feels like a dream to show our baby to the world,” he said just over a year ago when he proudly presented the prototype of Byton’s first electric SUV at the CES Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
For a long time, however, the fatherly joy of the former BMW top manager does not seem to have lasted. Even before the actual birth – in order to stay in the picture – Breitfeld looks for information of the manager magazin the width. According to several insiders, he is due to leave Byton soon – before the end of the year even the mass production of the SUV M-Byte should start.
A Byton spokesman said on request: “We see no reason for this speculation because of the contractual situation of Carsten Breitfeld.” Breitfeld left several requests unanswered.
