Jaguar Land Rover has installed 166 EV charging stations at its engineering facility in Gaydon, UK, for use by employees. The automaker claims the charging installation is the largest of its kind in the UK, and also plans to install charging stations in the visitor parking lot.
The 7 kW AC charging stations were supplied by NewMotion, and are cloud-connected to the NewMotion public network. Employees can monitor their EVs’ charging progress with a smartphone app.
“Our data shows when EV drivers are charging their car, 40 per cent of the time this happens at work,” said NewMotion CEO Sytse Zuidema.
“Every new Jaguar and Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020,” said Jaguar Land Rover’s Mick Cameron. “We hope that by providing a network of electric charging points to staff and visitors at our Gaydon engineering centre we can help encourage the uptake of alternative fuels amongst our employees.”
