MOSCOW, April 23. /TASS/. The first self-driving car to officially enter the public roads of Moscow, will be the car of company Russian IT company Yandex. It should appear on the streets in May, General Director of Yandex Taxi Tigran Khudaverdyan told TASS.
"In May, we will put our self-driving car on the roads of Moscow," he said.
The car will become the first unmanned vehicle to officially will enter the public roads in the framework of the legal experiment of the Russian government on releasing highly automated vehicles on the roads of Moscow and Tatarstan.
In total seven companies announced their intention to test unmanned vehicles on public roads in Moscow and Tatarstan.
In November 2018, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the start of tests of drones on public roads in Moscow and Tatarstan. Experiment on pilot operation of drones will last until March 1, 2022.
