Michelin, new shareholder of the German leader of the car centers

Michelin is gaining strength in Germany by signing a stake in ATU, a German auto center brand. The operation was carried out with the partnership of the Mobivia group, which owns the network across the Rhine.

Recently greeted by President Emmanuel Macron, the Michelin group is once again illustrating by entering the capital of ATU (Auto-Teile-Unger), leader of auto-centers in Germany. The transaction amounts, according to an official statement, to 60 million euros. This minority stake of 20% is part of a strategic agreement with Mobivia, who bought the Germanic brand in December 2016.

Thanks to this transaction, Michelin intends to strengthen its positions in the German market, where it already relies on its Euromaster brand. The ATU network currently operates 577 centers in Germany as well as 25 sites in Austria and six in Switzerland.
