German luxury automaker BMW revealed a redesigned version of the X4 crossover that’s bigger and stronger than its predecessor, following a trend of new vehicles growing larger as Americans lose interest in passenger cars.

The 2019 BMW X4 will be released in July with a starting price of $50,450.

The sporty crossover is 3 inches longer with an additional 2.1 inches on the wheelbase. It’s also 1.4 inches wider. Taken together, those increases reflect a noticeably heftier look, but lightweight materials allowed engineers to take weight out of the vehicle.

The vehicle will be offered with several different powertrain options. A 4-cylinder base model paired with the X4 xDriv30i gets 248 horsepower and goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6 seconds.

The performance model, known as M, comes with a 6-cylinder engine. The X4 M40i gets 355 horsepower and goes 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds.

Standard safety features include a frontal collision warning system and automatic emergency braking.
