In this way, the CEO of FCA since last summer, after the death of Sergio Marchionne, sold a total of 250,000 titles of the company for an amount of 13.85 dollars (12.4 euros) for each of them.

The sale of these shares took place on May 28 and is part of a convulsive moment for the company, which has made a merger offer to Renault and which is currently being analyzed by both the management of the French automobile consortium and by its Japanese partners Nissan and Mitsubishi.

Thus, the president of the Renault group, Jean-Dominique Senard, has traveled to Japan to discuss with its partners Nissan and Mitsubishi the possible merger between Renault and FCA, announced on Monday by both companies, through the creation of a group in the that both parties would control 50%.

Nissan has already said that it “does not oppose” the merger between the two consortiums, although he has asked that many details be resolved first before it concretes its position. The members of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance affirmed that they hold an “open and transparent” discussion on the proposal of the Italian-American group.

FCA has presented the French group with a non-binding offer to deal with the operation, in which it proposes a 50% merger. According to the Italian-American consortium, the union of both companies would mean the creation of an automobile group with total sales of 8.7 million vehicles per year.

For its part, the board of directors of Renault has announced that it will study “with interest” the friendly fusion proposal. Renault will publish “in due time” a new communication to inform the market of the results of these deliberations, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
