BMW will have 25 models electrified in 2023, two years ahead of schedule

MUNICH (GERMANY), Jun 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The BMW group is accelerating its expansion program in the field of electromobility and will have an offer of 25 hybrid plug-in and electric vehicles for the year 2023, which is two years earlier than initially planned by the company.

According to the German consortium in a statement, the momentum of the plan is possible thanks to the flexible production architectures for electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and combustion (diesel or gasoline). He also assured that more than half of these 25 electrified vehicles will be completely electric.

“We are making progress in the transformation towards sustainable mobility, making our company fit for the future,” said the group’s president, Harald Krüger, stressing that the company will double sales of electrified vehicles by 2021 compared to the current year.

Krüger highlighted that the group’s electrified vehicle registrations will increase by around 30% each year until 2025. By the end of this year, BMW expects more than half a million electrified vehicles to circulate on the roads worldwide.

Within two years, the German manufacturer will offer five 100% electric models. The i3, of which BMW has already produced more than 150,000 units to date, will be joined this year by the first fully electric Mini, which will be assembled in Oxford (United Kingdom); the iX3 in 2020, which will be produced in Shenyang (China), and the iNext and i4 in 2021, which will be manufactured in Dingolfing (Germany) and Munich (Germany), respectively.
