New Delhi: Baidu has joined hands with Geely to develop intelligent mobility solutions that include connected car technology. Under their partnership, the Geely cars will come equipped with the GKUI19 connected vehicle solution powered by Baidu’s DuerOS for Apollo.
Besides announcing this partnership with Gely, Baidu has recently showcased the latest updates and major milestone of its intelligent driving solutions at the Baidu Creat AI Developer Conference. The two companies demonstrated integrated applications of vehicle-to-home technologies.
The Chinese automaker revealed that its fleet of 300 L4 autonomous vehicles across 13 cities in China had recently surpassed a milestone of 2 million kilometer distance driven in urban road environments. Also, the company has taken 438 new autonomous driving patents, claims Baidu in a release.
Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport has given Baidu five T4 autonomous driving test permits. This will allow the automaker to test the self-driving vehicles in real life traffic conditions and improve the technology further.
The T4 is an open-road test license that signifies a self-driving vehicle can drive on complex urban roads, tunnels and school zones and respond to a range of complicated scenarios.
