Lidar manufacturer LeddarTech has won the patent against Phantom Intelligence.
Lidar is an important sensor in the field of Autonomous driving, The market leader and inventor Velodyne has recently filed a lawsuit against Quanergy decided for themselves. It was about the question of a patent infringement.

The process now completed also dealt with the question of the patent in the lidar area. The court in Canada has been in dispute between LeddarTech and Phantom Intelligencewho also with Osram cooperate, decided in favor of LeddarTech.
The trial began in 2015. LedarTech complained about the unauthorized use of his patent for the Lidar sensor. The patent, registered in Canada under number 2.710.212, describes the conversion from optical to digital signals.
The process ended with a settlement, but the conditions were not known. However, Phantom Intelligence is now a customer of LeddarTech.
In future, the winning company wants to pay more attention to compliance with patent law and punish possible infringements.
