According to the automaker, the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup starts in 2020. It should be the first electric motorcycle rally trophy. The Cup will initially be held as part of the German Rally Championship and selected other events.
The rally vehicle is to provide 100 kW / 136 hp with a maximum torque of 260 Newton meters.
The vehicle is fitted with a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery, along with rally chassis, 17-inch wheels with 4-piston calipers and a hydraulic fly-off handbrake. Elsewhere, the vehicle differs significantly from the production model. Thus, a welded safety cage, an underrun protection for engine and transmission, a fire extinguishing system and quick-release covers for hood and tailgate are installed. ESP, traction control and ABS are disabled. The vehicle is 5 mm wider, 5 mm higher and 2 mm longer than the standard model.
For the racing series 15 vehicles are built, which should cost according to the manufacturer in each case well below 50,000 euros net.
