New Lidar from Blickfeld

The Startup Blickfeld has introduced a new lidar with a higher range: Cube Range.

The startup company field of vision deals with the production of lidar systems and relies on solid-state lidar, which are cheaper and more robust than its predecessors. lidar is considered by the majority of the autonomous vehicle industry as a fundamental sensor. Few companies, like Tesla or Nissan, but want to do without the sensor.

Blickfeld Lidar Cube Range

Field of view Lidar Cube Range

The Cube Range from Blickfeld in Munich is based on MEMS technology and has a range of 250 meters with higher reflectivity. This is the maximum so far, which also of Luminar is advertised. At 10 percent reflectivity, the sensor model from Blickfeld reaches a range of 150 meters. Especially at 0.18 ° should convince the Lidar.

The field of view lidar sensor is being mass-produced and will be launched later this year. The production is scalable and the MEMS mirror is made of silicon. In addition to the hardware, Blickfeld also provides the necessary software for interpreting the data in the form of a 3D point cloud. The calculation is done in real time.

The lidar should also be included Darkness, fog or stronger blinding work through the sun. The high range and the good recognition make the Lidar motorway suitable. Next to the Autonomous driving you can see the use of the lidar in security, agriculture or Smart City area,
