MG Motor re-opens booking of Hector from September 29

NEW DELHI: SAIC-owned Morris Garages (MG) Motor will reopen bookings of its mid-size SUV Hector from September 29, 2019, according to the company. It halted the bookings in mid-July as company was not able to fulfill the demand.

The company till now have sold 3500 units of Hector in the first two months of its launch. It has received 28,000 bookings in the same period.

According to the company, Smart and Sharp are high in demand out which 50 per cent bookings are of petrol variants.

In earlier reports, the company has said that it is working with suppliers to increase production. MG Motor which bought General Motors Halol plant has an annual capacity of 84,000. The company plans to roll out 3000 units per month by October.

MG Hector competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV 500, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta.

The Hector is available in petrol, diesel and hybrid options. The 1.5-litre turbo-charged petrol engine delivers 143 PS power at a peak torque of 250 Nm and is available in both manual and automatic transmissions.

Its 2.0-litre diesel engine delivers 170 PS at a peak torque of 350 Nm, with best-in-class fuel efficiency. The 48V hybrid option with the petrol variant is available only in a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Talking about interiors, it gets 10.4-inch infotainment system with voice command and supports i-Smart technology.

In terms of safety, the top of the line variant gets six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS) and front parking sensors.
