PARIS (Reuters) – Renault (RENA.PA) Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard said on Tuesday that a possible deal with Italian carmaker Fiat (FCHA.MI) was not on the table for now, although he did not rule out it being re-examined at some stage in the future.

“Today, it’s not on the table,” Senard told France Inter radio, later adding that “one must never say never” regarding speculation that Renault might relook at merging with Fiat.

Renault, which earlier this month issued a profit warning and ousted CEO Thierry Bollore, abandoned a deal with Fiat in June.
