Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, November 4, 2019 – The all-new Ford Escort offers customers all the benefits of Ford’s family of trusted vehicles – great value, sophisticated design, interior roominess and superior safety features – in a compact package.
A modern feel inside and out
The all-new Escort is a stylish and modern car for the Middle East customer featuring Ford’s Design DNA, blending comfort, performance and looks together in perfect ergonomic harmony. This delivers an exclusive image that considerably lifts the vehicle within the segment, with an overall harmony that expresses a successful lifestyle.
The front end of the car boasts a well-balanced and sculptural look, with an emphasis on horizontal elements. The five-bar upper grille sits proudly between the headlamps, extending outboard to merge into the fenders, harmonizing with the full width lower grille.
The High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamp design offers exceptional lighting performance, and includes a C-shaped LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) that is balanced against a chrome outer bezel.
At the rear, the signature LED tail lamp design extends into the deck lid, giving the car a sense of absolute refinement. Twin integrated reverse lamps and separation of the fog lamps into the rear fascia give the rear design a sense of symmetry and balance. The multi-piece rear fascia along with available 17-inch wheels and a shark fin antenna further reinforces the upmarket nature of the car.
Inside, the all-new Escort introduces an Urban Grey and Domino black two-tone colour scheme that gives the interior a fresh and contemporary feel, reflecting the emerging tastes of young Saudi families. A new instrument cluster along with high gloss finishes and satin aluminum accents lift the Escort’s cabin ambience to a completely new level.
Room to move
The Escort is designed with comfort in mind, with a spacious and well-appointed interior.
The multi-function steering wheel and cleverly designed dash-mounted touchscreen have been designed to give Passengers are afforded generous leg, shoulder and headroom – allowing them to stretch out and get comfortable even on long journeys.
The Escort’s cavernous boot swallows luggage for weekends away, while the rear seats fold flat to reveal even more load carrying space, making it easy to transport larger loads when you need to.
Optimised powertrain
Under the hood, Ford has fitted an all-new 125 horsepower, 150Nm 1.5-litre engine that is light, strong and delivers impressive fuel efficiency. At 18.9 km/l, the Escort is one of the most efficient cars in its segment on combined cycle – making it a perfect vehicle for those who need to make every drop of fuel count.
The engine is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission which powers the front wheels.
To aid engine cooling, an electric horizontal louvre inside the front grille automatically fine tunes intake airflow, reducing wind resistance and helping to improve fuel efficiency.
Tested in the extremes
As part of its global testing programme, Ford put the Escort through its paces at the height of the Middle East summer in 2018. The testing centred on performance of both the engine and the air-conditioning systems during one of the most demanding times of the year for both – when ambient temperatures push them to their limits.
The test programme also covered ride and refinement, and also performance in the city and on the motorway.
“The team here was very impressed with the way the Escort conducted itself throughout the tests,” said Ziyad Dallalah, Chief Resident Engineer, Ford Middle East and Africa. “It coped with the kinds of temperatures we get here at the height of summer extremely well, cooling the cabin quickly and efficiently.”
Enhanced safety
With its high-strength boron steel chassis and comprehensive range of safety features including an advanced six-airbag restraint system, the Escort has garnered a full five-star safety rating in its crash test assessment program.
Ford’s relentless pursuit of vehicle safety means that the all-new Escort is constantly evolving and raising the bar for safety standards in its segment. Enhanced safety features on the all-new Escort include standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), side curtain airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system to deliver outstanding protection for all occupants.
Rear seats also come fitted with ISOFIX for two child safety car seats as standard, so that all members of the family are looked after on every journey.
Comprehensive convenience and smart features
The all-new Escort is equipped with a host of new convenience and smart features to deliver even greater value to customers and offer them an effortless, safer and more rewarding driving experience.
New features on the Escort include eight-way adjustable power memory seats and power folding memory mirrors for greater convenience. These are complemented by a connectivity system with an 8-inch touchscreen, auto on/off headlamp, auto dimming rear view mirror, automatic rain sensing wipers, and keyless entry with push button start. Audio devices can be connected to the system via Bluetooth, or via an a/v jack, USB charger and auxiliary port.
“We are delighted to bring the Escort to the region – and we’re sure customers here are going to love the car’s unique blend of style, technology and safety features,” added Dallalah. “The all-new Escort underlines our commitment to continue listening to our valued customers in the region and evolve to meet their expectations.”
