Two BEV models – Vivaro and Combo – in cargo and passenger versions to be introduced within two years.
Opel (with its British subsidiary brand Vauxhall) are going to introduce similar light commercial electric vehicles (and passenger derivatives) as the other PSA Group brands (Peugeot and Citroën), starting next year.
At first fire, in 2020, will go: Opel Vivaro-e / Vauxhall Vivaro-e van, based on the EMP2 multi-energy platform, with two battery/range options:
- 50 kWh battery for up to 200 km (124 miles) of WLTP range
- 75 kWh battery for up to 300 km (186 miles) of WLTP range

The Vivaro-e is based on the group’s highly variable EMP2 platform, which enables the use of conventional as well as electrified powertrains. The Vivaro-e extends Opel’s range of particularly efficient light commercial vehicles. The next electric LCV – the Opel Combo-e – will arrive in 2021.”
Then, in 2021, the lineup will be expanded by Opel Combo-e / Vauxhall Combo-e vans and passenger versions of both vans:
- Opel Zafira Life / Vauxhall Vivaro Life
- Opel Combo Life / Vauxhall Combo Life
By 2024 all Opel/Vauxhall models to have plug-in versions.
Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller said:

Three generations: Opel Vivaro a European success since 2001
With the new Opel Vivaro-e, the German brand will continue a success story that began with the first generation of the vehicle in 2001. The Vivaro A was offered until 2014, principally as a shuttle bus, panel van and platform truck. Opel delivered more than 650,000 units to customers during this period. In 2014, the second generation was introduced, of which Opel had sold around 310,000 vehicles by the middle of this year.
The Opel Vivaro number three arrived at dealerships a few weeks ago. The multi-functional LCV is now available in three lengths instead of two (4.60 metres, 4.95m and 5.30m). Compared with its predecessor, it also has a 200kg higher payload (up to 1,400 kilograms) and can pull half a ton more (trailer load up to 2,500kg). Most versions of the new Vivaro are also only 1.90m high and can therefore access underground parking. Comfort for the driver and passengers has also increased. Numerous top technologies and assistance systems, from IntelliGrip adaptive traction control and 180-degree panorama rear view camera to multimedia infotainment are available as options. Features such as sensor-controlled sliding doors and the FlexCargo load-through make the working day easier.

Luton – Vauxhall will launch the new Vivaro-e next year, the pure battery electric version of its best-selling medium van.
Following the addition of the all-electric Corsa-e and plug-in hybrid Grandland X Hybrid4 to its product range, the Vivaro-e marks the next chapter in Vauxhall’s electrification strategy. The British brand is committed to delivering eight electrified models by 2021 and electrifying its entire product portfolio by 2024, as part of the PACE! strategic plan.

The new electrified version of the successful Vivaro offers no compromises. Customers can still expect the same outstanding practicality and comfort synonymous with the diesel variants, with the latest generation of the Vivaro van proving popular since going on sale earlier this year.

Next year, the Mokka X successor will be added to Vauxhall’s electric line-up. Electric variants of the Combo and Combo Life, along with an electric version of the Vivaro Life, will be added in 2021. Vauxhall’s portfolio will also include an electrified version of the next-generation Astra.
